The Van Wert County Sheriff's Office Enforcement Division has three
shift sergeants and ten deputies. Also in the Enforcement Division
is a sergeant and a part time deputy who are assigned to handle the
duties of the Dog Warden. The personnel in the Enforcement
Division respond to calls for service from the public 24 hours a day.
The Sheriff's Office jurisdiction covers 409 square miles and includes
all villages and municipalities within Van Wert County.
The sergeants and deputies respond to all types of criminal
incidents, non-criminal complaints, residential and business alarms,
funeral escorts and vehicle lockouts. Deputies enforce traffic
laws, investigate traffic accidents and provide assistance to other
agencies. Deputies also serve various criminal and civil process for the

The Sheriff's Office also provides electronic fingerprinting, child
photo ID program, issuing concealed handgun licenses, sex offender and
arson offender registration. The Sheriff's Office also teaches
D.A.R.E in the schools, operates an Explorer program and has a certified
car seat technician.
